Personal Ethics Statement Management Coursework Paper

Coursework Instructions:

What is YOUR personal philosophical approach to help you answer and deal with ethical questions?
In this assignment, you will attempt to define your own personal values and principles. As you read this week unethical behaviors occur in all organizational operations and they occur at a cost. We also looked at a few different theories of human nature and how we rationalize our own unethical behavior. Your personal ethics statement is an attempt to answer "What are my personal beliefs and expectations for behavior?"
As you draft your own personal statement, consider the following questions:
Are rules absolute? Should they always be followed?
Does the end justify the means? If it depends on the situation, how will you judge it?
Is lying always unethical?
Do you place people above all else? Do you weigh the greater good?
Should all people be treated equally? How do you avoid bias?
Your personal ethics statement may be as long or as short as needed to provide the foundation for your own personal behavior and decision-making. Along with your statement provide some information on how you will apply these values in your professional duties, both in your decision-making and personal conduct.

Personal Ethics Statement
For the people to live in harmony, there must be some set guidelines that are exclusive of those stipulated in the constitution, which most modern governments have adopted. The guiding principles are what are termed as moral values. Although they might not formalized, every member of society is obliged to abide by and even extend to their future generation, otherwise they are deemed immoral and misfit. Renowned philosophers have put forward some ethical theories, and although they might be many centuries old, they are worthy of reference when it comes to ethical dilemmas (Reid et al., 2018). Being a bonafide member of society, morality, or rather personal ethics is the cornerstone of existence, and the statements below outline the different ways to handle the respective ethical dilemmas.
1 Rules are the laws and regulations imposed by whoever is in command
within a certain jurisdiction. A sensible member of society will always go with the perception that the custodians of these laws usually come up with them after careful consideration of the outcome of most or all the possible scenarios that would compromise the law. The likelihood of there being a failure in some scenarios, however minor or rare they might be, implies that rules are never absolute. Besides, time changes everything. However, the imperfection that comes along with them does not give a window to disobey. Any person of sound mind should follow the rules to the later for the sake of peace in the society. There are avenues where one can challenge the ill-conceived ones.
2 There are those people in society willing to do whatever it takes to
achieve what is perceived to be the best outcome. This principle seems to conform to the consequentialist ethics that disregard any wrongdoing as long as the consequences are favorable (Baum, 2016). The concept of ‘the end justifies the means’ is a great idea but should not always be relied on. It should only be applicable in disparate situations that call for desperate measures or where no alternative would yield a better outcome.
3 Lying is a common phenomenon among human species and has been the...
