However, the structure and culture are coiled around its mission; “We believe offering safe, wholesome, quality guaranteed products in clean, modern and attractive stores is the foundation for consumer confidence.” Giant Food Inc. employs an organizational structure that allows the company to deal with the fluctuations that occur in the market easily. As a result, Giant Food Inc. organizational structure is defined by three elements; differences in market conditions across the United States, business functions, and products. The structure has the following characteristics; the president/ C.E.O, a functional structure in each division, and teams. The president is also the C.E.O of the organization and adjudicates over the whole company. Nevertheless, the strength of Giant Food Inc. lies in its functional structure. In each state or region in the United States, Giant Food Inc. employs a functional structure that corresponds to normal business functions. For instance, stores in one state or region are under a president and a regional or divisional administrator such as a marketing manager and a human resource manager. According to Jones (2013), such an element of organizational structure maximizes operations in various regions because each region administrator implements policies based on the regional market conditions.
