In this talk about nothingness Sartre also talks about a lack of determinacy and linearity. He speaks of freedom and flight. We give these terms a positive connotation however with the freedom being the essence of a question in question it gains a certain negative element. Nothingness here partners with this notion of Freedom where it’s described as a suspension of the human being impossible to distinguish from human reality. Personally I feel that this suspension of freedom takes place when there’s especially no occupation in terms of things such as how we “spend our time.” These concepts of Freedom and Flight are in fact in contrast to our preconceived notions, where Freedom is not caused, it is extreme, it is a given. Flight says that this Freedom is hell, this immense amount of control that we have of ourselves seems to me could result in a loss of control, a loss of the want to stay conscious, to disengage, to even readily introduce ourselves to the ideas of our own death. “If nothing compels me to save my life, nothing prevents me from precipitating myself into the abyss. The decisive conduct will emanate from a self which I am not yet.” I found this important as Vertigo is the apprehension of present and future self in decision, this talks to the relationship of Anguish and Fear. One of which important to the self and one of which important to the beings surrounding said self. I feel that this method of thought, this introduction to nothingness and suicide by Sartre can spiral out of control, it’s something that we seem to so desperately want. The human process of disengagement.

From Arendt’s words, we can view forgiving as the critical response that doesn’t only react but acts unpredictably, unrestricted by the action that triggered it; hence, freeing from its outcomes the forgiving individual and the one forgiven (Arendt, 2013). Above all, I learned that forgiveness is a significant act affecting most of us. We should not ignore it. The forgivene...
