One of those diseases is diabetes, which is a lifestyle disease that is preventable when people are educated on making simple lifestyle adjustments. The community requires making changes in their diet and incorporate physical exercise into their daily lifestyle routines. The Orange County Public Health Department is commitment to healthy living by providing different types of programs, classes and activities such as fitness classes, sports programs, dancing classes and aquatic classes as well as places for people to practice the different activities (OC Public Health , n.d.). It also has nutrition service for health promotion (OC Public Health , n.d.). Other organizations such as the American Diabetes Association work to consolidate the department’s commitment to health promotion even further (American Diabetes Association, 2013). The American Diabetes Association organizes an annual cycling event dubbed Tour de Cure and it will take place in November 2 2013 starting at Rancho Santa Margarita to the Californian Coastline. The event features twenty-two teams totaling to ninety-seven riders. All the participants are commitment in health and raising funds to assist in finding a cure for diabetes. There is one unique team of red riders who have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes and are committed to preventing and finding a cure for diabetes. The event also inspires the red riders to living well with diabetes. They are empowered, offered wellness information, motivational resources and coaching in a fun filled way....
