Behavioral Psychoanalyst and its Viewpoint on Human Nature
There are some perspectives a psychologist can have when it comes to treating personality disorders. There are those who combine some perspectives to explain a certain condition or abnormal behavior, and there are those who only use one perspective (Psych Central.com, 2016). Upon close assessment, one can find out the pros and cons of each viewpoint. Furthermore, it is worth noting that each perspective focuses on human nature differently.
If I were a psychologist treating personality disorders, I would be a behaviorist psychoanalyst. Behaviorism is quite different from most perspective since as it views human nature as being a product of the environment. It is concerned with how environmental factors (stimuli), affects observable behavior (response). This approach proposes two processes through which people learn from their environment: namely operant conditioning and classical conditioning (Work - Chron.com, 2016). Operant conditioning entails learning from the consequences of one's behavior while on the other hand classical conditioning involves learning through association.
