I. Introduction
i. Background on the current education system
In the 19th-century during industrialization, certain skills were important, education focused on important skills relevant to the labor market instead of honing creative skills (Robison, 2011).
ii. Thesis: creativity is an inborn skill that needs to be nurtured, however, during the learning process, creativity skills are killed off by the education system as talents are not valued (Robison, 2011).

Innovative minds are rare because children are not encouraged to be creative. The education system does not value creativity because it focuses on teaching and tests on specific subjects that nurture intelligence rather than creativity (Robison, 2011).
Much emphasis is on specific subjects like mathematics, language, and sciences as compared to humanistic studies. Creative subjects are not given much weight. Creative subjects like music that can nurture innovation are ignored (McCabe, 2017).
