Seven Axioms By Lewis and Mitchell’s Argument on New Series of Axiom

Coursework Instructions:

For this Discussion Post please take the time to read the following articles 'reading landscapes', being sure to read the piece by Lewis first.

After reading both pieces carefully, please (1) list and explain the seven axioms presented by Lewis, and (2) summarize why Mitchell determines that a new series of axioms are necessary if geographers are to more fully understand the 'production' of landscape (you should aim to capture the essence of Mitchell's argument(s) in 500 words).  Please post your list, explanation and summation.

1. Seven Axioms Presented By Lewis
1.1 The Axiom of Landscape
The axiom of landscape refers to a landscape developed by man. The creation of things by humans and which are currently being used on earth (Lewis, 1979). This axiom defines the nature of human beings and represents the culture of a region concerning its landscape.

1.5 Geographic Axiom
The geographic axiom represents the components of a cultural landscape which are outside the geographical context. The culture of a particular region indicates that certain events only occur in specific areas (Lewis, 1979). For instance, almost all of the cities in the United States of America are segregated as streetwalkers are not allowed on the roads.
1.6 The Axiom of Environmental Control
Environmental control represents the physical landscape associated with the region (Lewis, 1979). The physical environment, like soils, landforms, and climat...
