‘Model minority’ ignores other forms of discrimination that Asian-Americans may face due to such generalizations. More people are now understanding the challenges that Asian-Americans face with their portrayals now offering different perspectives on their lifestyles, traditions, and beliefs. Asian-Americans suffer from discrimination since they are considered perpetual foreigners focussed on assimilating into different communities.
Feminist scholars Kimberlй Crenshaw and Andrea Ritchie contend that very often African-American women are excluded from national conversations about racial profiling, police brutality, and lethal force. Do black women experience these things? If so, why are they not discussed?
Black women may experience a number of profiling, brutality, and use of lethal force by police due to their vulnerability to street violence. The lack of discussions on a national scale may be due to their ability to cope with such situations and the lack of trust in the systems put in place to protect them from such.
