EVAN WILLIAMS: Well, thank you so much for coming out here tonight. It's an honor to be here celebrating the growth of Twitter in Japan with you. We've come a long way in two years, and especially in Japan. Japan, as you probably know, is one of the fastest growing countries in all the world for Twitter. And that's why we're here and very excited to talk with you.
So when we started Twitter four years ago, we had no idea where it would go. But what we've learned time and time again from listening to people all around the world is that Twitter is about the open exchange of information. And we strongly believe that the open exchange of information makes the world a better place.
So for example, this is a chart of all the tweets over the course of the world cup. And this represents the global conversation that Twitter enabled about this global event. And I'll point out one point. The top red dot says 3,283 TPS, which is tweets per second. The most tweets we've ever seen come in at one time were during the Japan-Denmark game.

EVAN WILLIAMS: So that really shows how engaged our Japanese users are, which we really appreciate. So beyond looking at the numbers, I always push people in my company to really understand what's going on. And I use the phrase, seek the truth.

I'm very humbled to see how many of you actually presented stories to tell tonight. So we have a lot of work to do on Twitter still. I appreciate your patience, as this is just the beginning. Actions for Improvement
From the results of the leadership skill questionnaire, it is evident that my interpersonal skill is at a very high range. This means that I have the ability to work well with superiors, followers, and peers to attain organizational goals. The scores also show that my conceptual skills are poor while administrative skills are moderate. In this sense, I must improve on these two leadership areas. In order to improve on my administration skills, pursuing training and development is necessary. When it comes to conceptual skills, actions for improvement include observing and seeking trends and questioning the language of strategy (Bowman, 2016). By implementing these actions, my leadership skills will improve.
2. Case Study
Evan Williams demonstrates some major leadership strengths and weaknesses. His major strength in administrative skills is technical competence. According to Northouse (2018), technical competence refers to the possession of specialized knowledge about the complex aspects of the organization. His technical competence was integral in the development of Twitter and also in the decision to focus on product strategy. On the other hand, his key weakness lies in managing people. He notes that he has failed many times in managing people (Miller, 2010).
