What does research suggest about genetic contributions to juvenile delinquency?
Seigel and Welsh (2015), there are three suggestions on how the genetics that contributes to delinquency behaviors are inherited, passed down through generations from parent to child, and some actions are linked to abnormal genetics. Under low social control amplifies the genetic risk juveniles. Research shows that neuropsychological deficits are genetic (Schwartz & Beaver, 2015).
Genetic factors can highly attribute to juvenile delinquency. Besides, children eventually adopt the immediate environment after birth (Liu et al., 2016). Delinquency behaviors are inherited where children either act exactly like their parents, with the chain linked to more people in the future generations in the family. Although there exist some abnormal genetic risks, they could also be passed to the next generations after induction (Liu et al., 2016). On the other hand, people exhibiting neuropsychological deficits could give them to their kids, resulting in significant entanglement with delinquency risk behaviors. The anti-social behaviors inducing the risks are genetic and eventually passed from one generation to another.
