A systems failure, data corruption, or human errors may lead to data loss held within a computer system. Backups are vital in storing and access of data that might have suffered one of these fates. The three main types of backups include full, differential, and incremental types (Nakamura, Zhao, & Nakagawa, 2017). Full backup involved backing up the entire data set regardless of any existing backups. Differential backup involved additional data and alterations to currently backed up data. Incremental backups involve additions and alterations to the currently existing backup strategies. The three types may function together where the differential backup is done on full backup (existing strategy) while incremental backup adds up to the contents of the differential backup.
