Traditional Prosecution alternatives: Diversion, deferred prosecution, and deferred sentencing
Alternatives to prosecution seek to reduce rates of reoffending while also molding the behavior of offenders in a more lenient way. These interventions are also accompanied with assistance to assist defenders and the criminal justice system may help identify vulnerable people who can be rehabilitated through prosecution alternatives (Siegel & Bartollas, 2013). In particular, diversion programs can help mentally impaired individuals where specialists assist the offenders in light of their mental incompetence. When handled properly, these prosecution alternatives have the chance to assist defenders live more possible with fewer criminal records. Nonetheless, these prosecution alternatives should be used for felony crimes, misdemeanors and low-level crimes that would not ordinarily require capital punishment. Traditional prosecution alternatives include diversion, deferred prosecution, and deferred sentencing.
