The specialist nurses explore in-depth knowledge of the nursing field, and as such, the study and practice of nursing practice is guided by the knowledge base connected to particular schools of thought determine the nurse specialty (Thoun, 2011). Advanced nursing is guided by highly developed complex ideas, theories, and concepts in nursing to understand the phenomenon, arising from both experience and graduate nursing study as well as the various skill sets and knowledge bases (Thoun, 2011).
In specialty nursing, the nurses work in specialty areas, which are narrower and they expand their knowledge and expertise. While advanced nurse practitioners and specialist nurses receive additional training and formal education, their scope of practice tends of advanced nursing tend to be broader than that specialist nurses (Hamric et al., 2014).
