ACTIVITY I
The NCLEX® test plan provides an overview of the content, format, and administration of the NCLEX® exam and the clinical judgment framework that guides the development of exam items (Khalid et al. et al., 2023). It can be employed to guide teaching and test development in a nursing curriculum, as it reflects the current entry-level nursing competencies and the expectations of the nursing profession. Gibbons et al. (2023) suggest that the test plan can guide nursing instructors to ensure that their curriculum is comprehensive and consistent with the standards of practice and education. Still, it should not be used as the sole teaching and test development information source.
Cheating is an egregious academic misconduct that undermines the integrity and quality of education and practice. To minimize cheating, educators should establish clear and consistent guidelines for integrity and communicate them to students before each test. Designed tests should be fair, valid, reliable, and aligned with the course objectives and content. Besides, learners should be cognizant of its ethical and legal implications and potential consequences for their academic performance, professional reputation, and career prospects (Miron et al., 2022).
In case of a cheating incident, I would document the evidence and details of the suspected cheating to have a clear and objective record to prevent the student from destroying or hiding any proof. By confronting the student discreetly and respectfully and inform them of the allegation and the evidence, I will give them fair due process and respect their dignity and rights. Then, I would follow the established policies and procedures for reporting and handling such cases, referring the involved learner to the appropriate authority for the case to be handled consistently and transparently.
