Countries around the world have called for the education system to include and embrace ethical studies for their population no matter the profession. The United States of America, for example, is one of the countries with a standardized curriculum in ethics and in particular the medical ethics. The importance of this sensitive subject is further emphasized with numerous declarations and oaths for those in practice in health care. Practicing both virtues and values do not only promote the profession but maintains humanity which is a significant factor to the world. The 21st century has seen health professions insist on developing a more ethical education for health professionals. Researchers and medical practitioners observe the importance of values and ethics but there is no clear and explicit on the values and virtues expected. The following text is going to look at values and virtues that are best exemplified in medical practice. There is a call for physicians to become transformative leaders in the world today but for the above to be satisfied these candidates ought to have value base in their duties and practice. Virtue ethics are observed to be the character inherent of an individual and not the specific act or activities performed by this individual. It is moral excellence. In literal form virtues is that which differentiate good people to bad people. Being honest and observing justice is an example of moral principles. A moral virtuous individual is that person who will act accordingly and do good by nature without being coerced by rules or policies. This individual acts by habit. It has been a challenge to grasp the concept between virtues and values since a virtuous person is an individual who does good and this good character is defined and judged through the values possessed by the individual (Maslach, 2017). Value can be observed to be a factor of judging badness or goodness of an act. Burnout Burnout is a popular topic among health practitioners. Burnout is observed to be a common syndrome that is characterized by a sense of inefficiency at the workplace, depersonalization and the main trait being exhaustion.
