Communication skills
Strong communication skills are the most significant characteristic of nursing professionalism. Nurses' roles and responsibilities depend on how effective they communicate with fellow health care practitioners, patients, and their families (CHOIet al.,2013). There are different forms of communication skills that are adopted by nurses. For instance, a genuine smile brings comfort and confidence to the patient knowing that the nurse cares about them.
Caring
Nurses are always the most common and accessible point of help for patients and families in vulnerable and scary moments of their lives.
Emotional stability
The nursing profession involves regular encounters with traumatic and painful circumstances. Nurses' ability to come to terms with death and suffering without allowing it to get personal is vital.
Empathy
Nurses empathize with patients in all circumstances. They can provide ease and compassion to the patients experiencing pain and suffering.

Nurses are always alert and ready to quickly attend to emergencies and any other situation that arise (CHOI et al., 2013). Maintaining upstanding posture for long hours and keeping calm during emergencies are some of their unique qualities.

This is one of the qualities that enable nurses to value the growing nursing profession (CHOI et al., 2013). It is also a prerequisite for taking initiative, multi-disciplinary teamwork, collaboration among nursing teams, and coordinating activities with other workplace professionals.
