Practicum Activities Reflection:
I am working on a Virtual ICU that aims to assist health care practitioners in the ICU by offering an additional set of eyes. Through this project, I aim to ensure that patients in critical care can get additional observations through the setting up of teleconferencing equipment. This would ensure that adequate information would be passed on to clinicians in the ICU, thus providing the best possible care to prevent the loss of life.
Through my interactions, I have gained a lot of insight into the field and how people operate under different circumstances. In the hospital setting, collaboration is critical to ensure that adequate healthcare is provided to patients seeking medical assistance CITATION Nie19 \l 2057 (Nieuwboer, van der Sande, van der Marck, Olde Rikkert, & Perry, 2019). Therefore, despite the ranks that different clinicians and physicians have, whenever problems arise, all teams work together to find solutions. This type of leadership enables better collaboration since all parties gain the opportunity to provide their ideas. Such environments enable learning since information can be accessed and distributed easily among practitioners.
Application of Leadership:
As a health practitioner, I am always willing to work on any assignment available to ensure that everything is performed as required. Consequently, I would never send another person to perform an activity that I would not be willing to perform on my own. Therefore, I hope to inspire more people to work collaboratively to find solutions to problems. Furthermore, working with juniors also requires such actions to ensure that they can follow their leaders. Such character inspires others to follow through and perform procedures that their superiors are willing to perform. As a member of the team, my opinions are valued, and opportunities for learning and growth provided to ensure that I can gain the required expertise in the field. Therefore, such experiences show the impact of leadership styles in health settings that provides opportunities for all. The ability to help a patient get better after experiencing difficulties in their health satisfied me and reminded me why I chose this career path. The ability to make an impact on another human being thus brings about some sense of accomplishment.
