Understanding the various kinds of tests needed to diagnose an illness is essential for anyone. It allows an individual to better understand the cost-efficiency and the effectiveness of these tests relative to the determination of the signs and symptoms that he is feeling. In this article, the author would like to discuss some of the common and recommended tests for determining two cardiovascular illnesses, namely, (1) Cardiomyopathy and (2) Coronary Artery Disease. Although the diagnosis of these two tests has several similarities, such as the use of catheterization, x-ray, and echocardiogram, among others, both diseases have their own recommended methods of screening in order to diagnose one against the other.

Cardiomyopathy is an illness that makes it more difficult for the heart to pump and circulate blood throughout the entire body, which in turn becomes a risk factor for fatal diseases such as a heart attack CITATION May21 \l 1033 (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2021). Accordingly, one of the most recommended tests for the diagnosis of this disease is an echocardiogram. The echocardiogram uses pulses of sound waves to create visual images of its whole structure and functioning. This also allows the physician to determine whether specific abnormalities in terms of size, structure, and functioning are necessary to determine illnesses.
