Assessment Description
There is often the requirement to evaluate descriptive statistics for data within the organization or for health care information. Every year the National Cancer Institute collects and publishes data based on patient demographics. Understanding differences between the groups based upon the collected data often informs health care professionals towards research, treatment options, or patient education.
Using the data on the "National Cancer Institute Data" Excel spreadsheet, calculate the descriptive statistics indicated below for each of the Race/Ethnicity groups. Refer to your textbook and the topic Resources, as needed, for assistance in with creating Excel formulas.
Provide the following descriptive statistics:
1. Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, and Mode
2. Measures of Variation: Variance, Standard Deviation, and Range (a formula is not needed for Range).
3. Once the data is calculated, provide a 150-250 word analysis of the descriptive statistics on the spreadsheet. This should include differences and health outcomes between groups.
APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

The descriptive statistics for each of the race/ ethnic group relating to cancer has been generated by excel and is provided below.
Discussion
The descriptive statistics provided above indicate that Black, including Hispanics, are heavily affected by lung and bronchus cancer compared to other groups. The mean is the average set of values (Turner & Houle, 2019). The mean rate per 100,000 Black (including Hispanics) is 70.06875. This rate is higher than White, including Hispanics, who come second in terms of how they are affected by lung and bronchus cancer. The mean rate per 100,000 American Indian / Alaska Natives suffering from lung and bronchus cancer is 43.275. Hispanics (of any race) are the group with the least mean rate (31.49) of people affected by cancer per 100,000. The mean and median are equal in normally distributed data (Ruel, 2019). Hence, Black (Includes Hispanic) has the highest median, followed by White (Includes Hispanic). Mode is the value that appears most often in data values (Kaur et al., 2018). Asian/Pacific Islanders have a mode of the mean rate of 36.6, Hispanic mean rates have a mode of 34.1, while the mean rates of White have a mode of 65.8. The rate of Hispanic infection by cancer per 100,000 is 34.1, while the rate of whites, including Hispanic infection by cancer, is 65.8. The means displayed above indicate that Black is the most affected by lungs and bronchus cancer during the study period. During the study period, they must have been highly exposed to smoking, previous radiation therapy, radon gas, asbestos, and other carcinogens.
