The achievement or maintenance of quality health care for individuals within a given region or country forms one of the critical objectives for health care organizations around the world. Like all other industries or sectors within the global economy, healthcare organizations are at the forefront in embracing emerging trends in the management of their daily activities and operations. Both the nature and the intensity of operations within the healthcare environments necessitates the incorporation of elaborate and effective systems of operations. An organization’s systematic approach towards the running of its daily operations represents or rather highlights some of the key elements of organization theories.
Organizational Theories Evidenced in the Case Study
Texas Health Harris Methodist-Cleburne uses a combination of different organizational theories to achieve its position of being among the 15th percentile of the state’s leading performers in surgical care CITATION Las09 \l 1033 (Lashbrook, 2009). One of the organizational theories employed by the organization is characteristic of Max Weber’s bureaucracy as it involves a hierarchical arrangement of staff members. The organization uses its data management department to collect and analyze data across various departments to monitor their progress. Furthermore, such instruments of data collection and analysis serve to highlight the key factors affecting staff performance and thus increasing or rather improving efficiency and reliability towards providing safe and quality surgical care at the center. The healthcare center also falls under the umbrella body of Texas Health Resources CITATION Las09 \l 1033 (Lashbrook, 2009), which has an executive system of management. The organizational theory provides Texas Health with executive frameworks on how to handle specific surgical issues through the monthly Performance and Improvement and Patient Safety Council.
