Attributes Related to Evidence-Based Practice

Coursework Instructions:

Review two other students posts and provide feedback (it is not a critique of their work, expand on what they have written). All student feedback must be substantial (150 words or more). Remember, cover page and reference pages are required, however, they are not included in the word count. Do not repeat other students posted/submitted information.
During this course, the attributes related to evidence-based practice that I will be focusing on are:
Value the need for ethical conduct of research and quality improvement
Appreciate the importance of regularly reading relevant professional journals
Value the need for continuous improvement in clinical practice based on new knowledge
(Qsen competencies, 2020).
Valuing ethical conduct in research is crucial. As nurses, we are responsible for maintaining confidentiality and giving individuals full autonomy and awareness while making decisions about being a part of the research process. Nurses have a responsibility to themselves, their profession, and their patients to maintain the highest ethical principles. It is important to advocate for patient care, patient rights, and ethical consideration of practice (Nursing ethical considerations, 2022). I would make sure that I abide by the ethical principles and maintain integrity and confidentiality while providing care to my patients or during research activities targeted towards quality improvement.
To provide efficient and patient-centered care, it is important for nurses to stay up to date with current research and evidence-based practices. Nurses must be ongoing learners, and to achieve that, nurses must regularly engage in reading professional journals and articles to stay in the loop and provide efficient, patient-centered care using the best practices. I, myself will engage in regular reading of articles and journals to stay up to date with the most current practices.
All professions require continuous research and improvement to deliver optimum level services. In the nursing profession, continuous research and improvement in clinical practice is of utmost importance. The field of healthcare and medicine continues to evolve each passing day. New research gives way to new treatments, methods, and medications. When all this new knowledge is put to test, evidence is accumulated to determine if the applied intervention is ‘best practice.’ Nurses are important members of the healthcare field. We take part in direct patient care and are the bridge between our patients and the healthcare system. Therefore, it is crucial for nurses to value the need for continuous improvement in clinical practices. To provide the best care possible, nurses must keep striving to acquire and familiarize themselves with new knowledge and research, and value the need for continuous learning and improvement.
