Nursing Knowledge: What is the difference between model, theory, framework, and philosophy? How are they related? (Discriminate between the concepts.) 
A model is a systematic descriptive explanation of a phenomenon or an aspect of the phenomenon, and different from the theories, which are more explanatory (Nilsen, 2015). A theory is an analytical statement or principle that describes observations to provide an understanding and explanations of different phenomena. Theories normally contain variables and domains that explain relationships, describe phenomena and are used in predictions (Nilsen, 2015). A framework refers to a structural overview, frame of reference or plan of different descriptive categories like relations, variables or concepts that describe the empirical phenomena and frameworks are not explanatory like the theories (Nilsen, 2015).
