Military families go through many challenges while coping with their daily lives, especially during the deployment of either or both parents. Those more affected are the children, especially those of a younger age who do not understand much. The video comprises short clips of military children of the deployed, talking about the various problems they face in their everyday life, some of which they face repeatedly. Major challenges expressed are emotional distress, constant worry, and educational disruptions due to moving. This text explores the various challenges faced by military families and children, the impacts on early childhood education, and ways to support these children and families in trauma.
From the video, I have concluded that normal schools do not have the slightest idea on how to handle the military since the staff is not equipped to handle military children. Another fact is that the children from these normal schools and people who are not from a military family do not understand or know what these children of the deployed go through. In the video, Command Media Corp, "Children of the Deployed." (2012), a boy mentions how his friends think it is nice to have a father serving in the military and claiming that it's not a big deal at all. In most cases, military families experience high levels of sadness and worry due to fear of injury or death of the deployed member. There also exists poor relationships between deployed parents and their kids. Take an example of a father who was deployed for three years when his child was two years old; by the time he comes back, the child is five years and does not know much about his father. These families also do a lot of moving, which means always having to change schools and friends, which can be difficult to keep up with.
The impacts and implications on early childhood education of these military children can at times be serious. A young child of a deployed parent goes through a lot of mental distress due to their parent's absence, leading to a reduced concentration in class.
