The most important function of the media in the society
For any society to grow and develop there must be communication. Though at times media is biased and sensitive, its role can’t be ignored. Media acts as the mirror of the society. In the early days, interpersonal communication was preferred but as society became complex, other means of communication were needed to communicate to the large society. The major function of the media is entertainment. People appreciate entertainment at the end of a tiresome working day. Due to the high rate of people engaging in formal sector and cropping up of many industries, many people are busy the whole day and they need to relax after work hence many of those working flux in entertainment centers or just sit in their houses and watch television and get entertained.
Moreover, we get entertained through the television, radio and also the newspaper. Many radio stations have come up and all of them act as entertainment tools and they give people a chance to express themselves. The newspapers and magazines have stories which are interesting and also have pages where one can test his/her intelligence e.g. the codeword and the puzzles and for the children there are simple tests which attract prizes for the one who gets them correct.
