According to research studies that have been carried out in the recent past, the newspaper circulation has been on the decline since 1970s due to the coming up of many other means of news information. These includes: radio stations, internet and the television and this means that there future cannot be predicted. Many newspaper agencies have been rendered bankrupt and many employees have lost their jobs. Importance should therefore be brought on advertising to increase sales. With the arrival of the television and the internet, many people have stopped referring to the newspaper to be informed since the television and the internet informs the consumer much faster and in a more illustrative way. The companies prefers advertising in the television as this ensures that many people get to know about the particular product more, as there are even demonstrations of how the product works.
With the advance in technology, individuals are preferring going online in search of information because they can use search engines e.g. Google which is fast rather than perusing the many pages in the newspaper. It is also through the internet that people can interact directly e.g. by use of Face book and twitter. The newspaper is not accessible to remote areas. However, the cost of the newspaper is high and many people may not afford daily.
Industrialization has been a major challenge to the newspaper factories. Due to industrialization, trees have been cut to get space to put up industries. Raw materials for newspapers are got from these trees hence when they are cut in large numbers, the newspaper factories are affected. This has thus rendered the cost of printing newspapers to substantially go up and therefore reducing the profit margins for these newspaper companies.
