This paper is in response to an editorial on how Chinese people in America lack good morals. The article was talking about an event where young Chinese people were found misbehaving under the high influence of drugs. Some were intoxicated, and there were even cases of overdoses. On the contrary Chinese culture upholds good morals, unlike the American culture. In China, dating is highly discouraged among teenagers and young girls. In fact, marriage is encouraged from the late twenties (ZHANG & YU, 2016). This is contrary to the American culture where parents do not have a minimum age for their children to date. In some cases, it is even encouraged by the parents. This has resulted in many vices which are not seen in China, for instance, cases of girls dropping out of school because of early pregnancies. Dropping out of school lead to low literacy levels among the population and nobody can employ an illiterate person.
The major difference between Chinese and American culture is the key emphasis that the Chinese have on morals and ethics. What I miss most about my home country is the food. Just like there are cultural differences in morals they extend to the kitchen. In ceremonies in my country, a lot of food is prepared for everybody to eat unlike in American ceremonies where very little food is offered.
