Research has shown that younger consumers are not as brand loyal as older consumers. In addition, younger households appear to be more influenced by price, print selection, sheet count and roll size. P&G has recently faced a decline in sales and an increase of competition. Part of the solution to this issue was the development of Bounty Basic.

The company Procter & Gamble (P&G) in America is the manufacturer of Bounty Paper Towels brand. Since its introduction to the market, the brand has heavily relied on brand loyalty. However, in some ways the brand products has failed to appeal to its younger consumers. As a result, the sales have generally gone down for the brand products while the level of competition has increased. To help identify and address these conditions, a SWOT analysis is necessary. The analysis focuses on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the Bounty Paper Towels brand to show that there is more opportunity for growth for the brand in an environment that is very competitive.
Strengths
Strengths comprise of those elements that give a competitive advantage to Bounty Paper Towels brand. As a brand, Bounty Paper Towels have a number of strengths. To begin with, when using Bounty paper towels no noticeable lint is left behind. This fact makes them good to use. The strength of Bounty paper towel cannot be compared to that of other brands. Its strength is supported by its ability to effectively scrub a variety of wet surfaces for a long time before tearing. Apart from this, Bounty has strong brand recognition due to the strong advertising and marketing of its products. The Bounty paper towels are also known for their great absorbency and their special quilted patterns helps in ensuring this strength. In terms of price, the Bounty paper towels are relatively cheap compared to most of its competitors.
