Porter's Five Forces Model: Threats from New Entrants
General Mills manufactures branded consumer goods for her retail shops covering the global market. The corporation has an established niche all over the world with more than 89 brands leading in the market. A new market entrant would pose an unnoticeable level of threat to General Mills. New producers would have to spend a lot of resources, including time, skills, and finances for them to get to the level of General Mills (Grundy, 2006). The company has the advantage of pronounced goodwill, product quality and brand loyalty, making it challenging for new investors.
Competition
General Mills operates in a robust and relevant competitive market where the rivals may overtake the leadership in a second. Among the resilient rivals are ConAgra, Campbell, Kellogg, Nestle, and Tyson. The competitors have a prominent market voice and clientele base globally. These competitors are capable of altering the packaged and processed food sector at any time (Dobbs, 2014). Consequently, General Mills should find every reason to consider the competitors' threats.
Pest Analysis: Economic Environment
General Mills' business performance is dependent on the global economic conditions. A growth or drop in the world economic level will directly define the net profits and revenue by the company.
