How do you determine what information is viable and useful about diverse culture, groups, and ideas in your professional communications?
Response
In professional communication, there are many people who benefit from the information presented. These people constitute the target group and come from different backgrounds and cultures. An information presented to these groups must address the needs of these groups and provide them with the solution needed for the particular problem. The information must address the needs of the culture and groups present. For example, when presenting the financial performance of the company to the managers, there should be summaries of the financial statements portraying how the company has been performing in the previous months. Consumers will concentrate on the revenue and profitability of the company, while suppliers will concentrate on the liquidity of the company and its ability to offset debts.
Information presented to the varied groups and cultures must be SMART (specific, measurable, appropriate, realistic and timed). By using the smart tool, we can be able to determine which information is appropriate for the different groups and cultures. The information must address the needs of the specific groups. For example, contractors and workforce may need to know the materials to use and the size of the project. The project manager may need to know about the risks involved while the owner may need to know the project scope. All these information allows the stakeholders to determine what to do in the project life cycle.
