There have been allegations that organizations are expanding thus turning very complex turning the management of knowledge very difficult both in accessing as well as sharing. However, competition has also led to the intensive search for knowledge for long term sustainability of an organization. For competition advantage, availability of knowledge and effective dissemination strategy is very important since it acts as an organizational property which is used now and then for improvement of organizational returns (Koper 2003). In addition, creation of knowledge and its efficient use is an added advantage. In this study, knowledge management and corporate culture for Hunter Health intranet is overstated.
Hunter health is a not for profit organization which specializes in health care provider in Australia. The organization contains a large number of employees, “over 9000” and manages a number of health care facilities, about “16 hospitals and dozens of community health centers” (Step Two 2005). The institution is very innovative with very creative staff member making it the best health care provider and major adopter of new technologies and innovations. As a result change of organization structure and performance management with the use of “balanced score card” to sustainability of services. This calls for complex management strategies to help in the implementation and enlighten of the employees on their role and importance (Barnes 2002).
Knowledge is one of the major components of organizational processes that affect the manner and methods through which the various tasks are attended. The manner at which the various tasks are accomplished is more so dependent on an employee`s experiences and knowledge. In this case, training and learning in an organization plays a major role in evaluation of organizational processes. Depending on the processes that are established in an organization, the overall goals and achievement of an organization could be evaluated. As a result, the overall performance depends on the strategic management of knowledge (Koper 2003).
In cases where the management team and the leaders are supporting management of knowledge, the performance is very effective. For a case where improvement of achievements is required, more resources should however be utilized to allow exchange of information and increased communication. Hunter health is a complex organization owing to its spread networks. As a result, effective communication and supply of information is required for efficiency of services (Sanchez 2000).
