Case Study # 2 - 10%
Barbara B. is a social worker in a senior citizens home. Mrs. R. is a female resident and has been placed in the home on a temporary basis pending further planning. Mrs. R. had been evicted from her former housing due to her inability to keep minimum housing standards. There was also concern regarding possible fire hazards in her home.
Mrs. R. had filled out a housing application with the help of a former social worker. The application contained false information and Mrs. R claims that the social worker had suggested to her that she omit some information on the application in order to be accepted into independent housing. The housing authority accepted her application and assigned her a high rise apartment for elderly citizens who are able to live independently.
Barbara B. feels that Mrs. R. is not in a position to live alone, that she has poor judgment, and might endanger both herself and others. Mrs. R. is intent on moving to the high rise apartment and is furious at the thought that the social worker (Barbara B.) might contact the housing authority regarding the concerns she has regarding her client.
