M8D1: Therapeutic Communication A 3 year old child has just been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. The family is in a state of disbelief. The family or the child does not understand the exact nature or future implications of neuroblastoma. While caring for the child, the nurse must treat him or her as normally as possible. It is also important that the nurse support family members or care providers and allow them time to comprehend the diagnosis. As the registered professional nurse, what would you say to this family?
