Case Study Instructions:
Scoliosis is the most common spinal deformity in children. While the presentation and treatment of the disease may range from mild to severe, the effects on physical growth and/or personality development can be severe and also have a significant impact on the family. How can the RN play a role in meeting the needs of the patient and as well as think about how it affects family dynamics? Consider the wide variety of treatment options based on the degree of spinal curvature as you frame your response. How does the RN modify the plan of care for children/adolescents in different developmental stages? Provide examples in your discussion.
