DNA Typing in Victims Identification of 1998 Airbus Crash in Taiwan
On 16th February 1998, Airbus 300-600R carrying 14 crew members and 182 passengers crashed on the north of Chiang Kai-Shek Airport, Taoyuan in Taiwan. All the 196 people on board and the other 6 on the ground perished in this accident. The body remains of 202 victims were distributed over a place of about 2 square kilometers (Hsu et al., 1999). The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis was used to identify the fragmented human remains collected from the wreckage.
