Provo Craft Case Analysis
Provo Craft Case Question
Provo Craft's change in corporate culture allowed the company to thrive within the company. Their ideas, innovation, and products became fresher because of new minds and new environments. The strategic move to change the minds that think for the company was one of the critical changes in Provo Craft. The company hired new people to rebuild its image with better and more independent ideas. Provo Craft also diverted from relying on customer feedback and outside sources to working everything from within. The team did formal research about market trends, designed and produce their newly thought of products (Crawford and Benedetto). These fundamental changes made Provo Craft successful because they established the ideas, plans, and executions with research and strategies.
If I am to recommend Mr Colby further development plans for his organizational climate, I would say that he should give equal compensation and proper motivation to his employees. Not that Mr Colby may not be doing them. This recommendation is to maintain loyalty and willingness of employees to work for the company even when it faces a crisis. The employees would want to work as much as they are paid for with their work. Also, of course, they would want to see that the company is more than willing to support what projects they offer for its success.
NPP: New Product Process
Provo Craft's new product process did not strictly follow NPP phases. For phase 1, the company found an opportunity in wanting to be more technologically advanced. To achieve it, they thought of changing who will think for them, their culture, and their working practices. In their previous operation, Provo Craft applied NPP phase 2, where it based changes on customer feedback. In the new product, the company relied on formal market investigation and trends researches to support their ideas. In phase 3, instead of evaluating their new concepts, they place the ideas in roadmaps that go five years from the present time. This has led them to which idea is prioritized. In phase 4, the company continued with its technical and marketing tasks in promoting its new products in the market. In phase 5, they were able to launch the products in the market. Because the company and its products have loyal patronage, it was easier to market their new products.
Provo Craft used the fuzzy-gate process for their new products. The birth of their technologically advanced products is a result of innovative minds and collaborating ideas that worked at a quick phase. Because of the changes in people and culture, the company was able to bring out their successful products without much concern for financial risks. Their well-researched ideas and accurate investigations of market and trends allowed them to come up with a product that best-suited people's interests and needs. They made their innovation quick but with enough acknowledgment of the need to reestablish their team.
