Due to the increasing number of subscribers at Lifeline Systems Inc., Ron Feinstein, the chief executive officer (CEO), and Rich Reich, the vice president of Technology and Advanced Services, suggested the development and implementation of a new system, the CareSystem Project (Gibson 1). The project manager and team did various things right, which include involving employees as major stakeholders in the requirement collection phase, prioritizing callers’ needs, improving the efficiency of support services, and performing thorough tests before implementing the project. By involving workers in the CareSystem project, software developers gathered the right data that enabled them to come up with a system that fulfills users’ needs entirely. One of the most significant things about the new system is that it prioritized meeting subscribers’ expectations. For example, the new system kept emergency callers on hold as the support staff made other calls to get professional assistance.

One of the things that project managers and the team did wrong was to consider views from almost everyone at Lifeline Systems Inc. For this reason, the CareSystem Project took an extended period beyond what developers had anticipated. Second, it took a long time to establish the requirements than to design the new system. That was the reason why the latter took more time since project developers must have considered user-friendliness, efficiency, scalability, and usability of the CareSystem Project (Gibson 5). Overall, the new system must have captured all the requirements to meet the expectations of Lifeline Systems Inc.
