Reforming the Atlanta Public Schools
The Atlanta public school case study highlights problems that can occur in an organization due to a focus on measure management. In this case, the school established measures that it then used to provide various benefits to teachers based on their scores against the established benchmarks (Simons and Kindred 10). The approach encouraged rampant cheating with teachers assisting the students in order to improve their performance and obtain the promised benefits. The three initiatives that could be implemented in such a situation are a value system, a code of ethics, and a feedback mechanism.
A value system is important to establish an institution's mission and the values that each member is expected to uphold.
