The Bhopal gas tragedy that happened in 1984 is termed as one of the deadliest human-made disasters to happen in modern history. The catastrophe left thousands dead and a handful of survivors with severe physical damages and deformities. It is difficult to establish who was responsible for Bhopal crime. First, when the tragedy happened, the Bhopal plant was under control of Union Carbide India Ltd (UCIL), which at the time was a subsidiary of Union Carbide Corporations of US (UCC) because UCC had approximately 51% shares. According to the Indian government, a party that has more than half shares is considered the owner. Therefore, I believe that the severity of the disaster would be less had the parent company ensured that all safety measures were intact.
