Your project must be submitted as a Word document (.docx, .doc). Your project will be individually graded by your instructor and therefore may take up to five to seven days to grade.
Be sure that each of your files contains the following information:

You’ll find your case study assignments in the textbook, Psychology and Your Life, Fourth Edition. Use your textbook to complete your Case Study.
Please take a few moments to watch the video in the next resource titled, "Case Study Instructions." The video gives a verbal explanation of this assignment.
Read the following case studies in your textbook and answer the questions in your text:
Case Study 1: “The Woman Who Dreams of Stress,” after Module 14
Case Study 2: “John Buckingham, the New Guy on the Job,” after Module 43

Format your paper using a standard font, such as Times New Roman, 12 point, double-spaced. Set the margins at a standard 1 inch on all sides. Since you’ve given your information on the cover sheet, no header is necessary.
For the body of your paper, make a clear distinction when you’re answering the questions about Case Study 1 and answer questions 1–5 in complete sentences. Then move on to Case Study 2 and continue in the same format.
For clarity, please include each question from the case study prior to your response.

1. As Arlene’s friend, I would make sure she understands that every person dreams. The dreams people have at night reflects their daily encounters of anxiety (Emerson, 2016). If she is consistently having dreams about her work, I would advise her to establish smaller day to day goals to accomplish her work. In the end, handling her work in small portions instead of taking them as a whole would relieve her of the overwhelming feelings she experiences at home and this would end the dreams,.
2. The Dreams for Survival theory demonstrates the situation Arlene is in. This theory shows that a man’s dreams are immediate impressions of their daily lives. This way, Arlene’s life provokes her annoying dreams as her brain attempts to find a way of addressing them (Why do We Dream, n. d). Her mind tries to make sense of time on how to handle her work.
3. Medication will not help Arlene. Anti-anxiety medication will not help my friend since anxiety as well as, bad dreams have diverse processing areas in the brain. Other seemingly helpful medications may not assist and might prolong the dreams. Narcotics, antidepressants, and other blood pressure medications may cause nightmares (Nightmares in Adults, n. d). Therefore, if Arlene takes medication she might not be assisted and the situation may become worse since they may interrupt the normal sleep pattern (Gokalp, 1999).
4. By going to the doctor and talking about the dreams, my friend has taken the initial step of overcoming her insomnia. Secondly, Arlene needs to exercise regularly to release the tension in her body which will assist her to address the issue. Thirdly, she should have a diet plan which will assist he eat right. Fourthly, she needs to have a healthy sleeping plan to assist her to improve her brain to her previous state. Lastly, she must restore tranquility in her life especially in her bedroom by removing stressors.
5. High caffeine intake may cause addiction to Arlene. Stopping the caffeine intake suddenly may trigger nightmares because his body has gotten used to caffeine and energy drinks. My friend should lower the levels of intake slowly. Caffeine stays in the body for over 12 hours. She should substitute caffeine intake with herbal tea.
