In today's business sector change is inevitable. Although the change in an organization has been a challenge before, today it is more challenging since companies and firms embrace the new technology that is improving everyday day and the trend of going global. Globalization is a vital factor in this century where the world has been converted into a global village. Globalization has seen many firms taking their business beyond borders, and this move comes with many organizational changes based on management, organizational culture and the traditions held by the firms. Because of the unforeseeable future companies need to have feasible business leaders and managers who involve strategic planning to manage organizational change. Among the challenges, these business leaders` experience is resistance to change. This paper is going to look at organizational change based on a case study of the P&G.
Question 1.
P&G has utilized several strategies to maintain its competitive advantage and remain at the top. One of these strategies is to incorporate new products, which has been the brand's lifeline since it started. This method has been observed successfully by the firm because it does respond to their customer's comment and initiate change. What was required during these changes is to create commitment and understanding among the personnel to reduce resistance culture that exists in the firm.
Question 2
The main source of resistance was from fear of the unknown and unseen future. The case study observes that there has been a traditional culture in the firm where the workforce resists change. The management is aware of this problem and has incorporated several key changes to reduce the risk. to overcome this threat, the management enhanced their communication by ensuring everyone gets their plan and strategies, they also broke down the walls to improve communications.
It is observed that Alan the former Lafley continued with the organization culture of building into new brands, but with his strategy, he opted to outsource some services. The organization also made changes in marketing by insisting on creativity and innovativeness....
