Assignment Overview
For the Module 2 Assignment, identify the most important part of the peer-reviewed literature that includes information regarding lack of clarity, inconsistencies, contradictions, and missing links. Link the theory supporting the research topic to the primary relationship between the proposed dependent variables and key constructs. Discuss why the particular methodology was selected. Discuss in sufficient depth the feasibility of actually gathering/collecting the data/information to support the methodology and answer the research question(s). The response must be theoretically sound and supported by the discussion of the study’s feasibility. Discuss the proposed study’s possible outcomes.
Case Assignment
Conduct and write a focused literature review on the Dissertation topic. Clearly describe the “knowledge gap” on the topic (i.e., that which is not yet known by researchers, according to the literature). Please take comments from the classmates under consideration from the previous module discussion. Describe the Theoretical Orientation of the study and construct a conceptual framework (written and graphical) of the proposed research (~2-4 pages). The conceptual framework should graphically depict all important constructs (i.e. variables) in the study, as well as their hypothesized associations. At the end of this section, include a set of appropriately formulated, clearly phrased Research Hypotheses. Write the Methodology section to include subsections with appropriate subheadings for a) Research Design b) Study Population c) Data Collection Tools d) Variables, and e) Statistical Analysis. (~3-4 pages).
Case Assignment Expectations
In Addition to maintaining Module 1 expectations:
Conduct a focused literature review on constructs presented in the research question(s).
The proposed research must be theory-based. All theoretical models or mechanisms must be clearly identified and relevant to the research questions and associations under study.
The research hypotheses must be relevant and stem logically from the theory used (i.e., alignment of hypotheses with theory).
In the Conceptual Framework, the independent variable(s) should appear as boxes (or rectangles) on the left-hand side of the diagram. The dependent variable(s) should appear as boxes (or rectangles) on the right-hand side of the diagram. The boxes should be connected by arrows that represent the hypothesized association between variables. It is important to become familiar with the Diagramming Tools in Microsoft Word (to create the framework) or in PowerPoint (to insert it).
Key constructs in the research hypotheses must appear in the conceptual framework (i.e., alignment between hypotheses and framework).
Describe appropriate sampling procedures to collect data on a proposed dissertation topic.
Describe the methods of sampling/recruitment of participants for studies that are not using secondary data.
Describe the proposed methodology for the proposed dissertation topic.
The Research Design must be accurately described. The research design must permit the answering of research hypotheses. Also, sufficient protection of human subjects must be evident.
The Study Population should be precisely identified. Subject recruitment or sampling procedure should be clearly specified.
All Data Collection Tools should be described. Discuss the validity and reliability of measurement instruments. Present an appropriate data collection plan.
Study Variables must be identified and described in terms of their type (e.g., nominal, continuous, etc.) and their role (e.g., Independent/Dependent). Create a table of variables.
Statistical Analysis: Statistical tests identified must be appropriate for variable type. Multivariate inferential statistical tests are required. Be sure to include an a priori sample size calculation.
The proposed research must be feasible. Consider such factors as cost, time, resources, and necessary approvals.
