Q1. What are some of the problems that contribute to the poor school performance of youngsters that could be the sources of Sandra’s problems?
Historically, women and girls have had to put up with inequality in their representation in classrooms. The representation of women in national demographics are not in proportion to their improved chances in the sciences as shown in the few past years. In the North American history, racial discrimination has played a big part in its education system. When it comes to education, such as in science, students of color have had disproportionate opportunities to attend elite universities and access to facilities where training in sciences is the best. There has also been an emphasis of white trainers in science in the place of black teachers that have also made incredible contributions to science.
Poverty in American society can be solved by public schools. The truth is that children from poor neighborhoods are less likely to go to institutions with high quality education compared to those from affluent backgrounds. As earlier stated, quality, hands-on, research-based training requires significant resource materials and well-prepared teachers with high qualification. To achieve this, smaller classes can make a significant difference. Schools that attend to poor children often suffer in most of these areas, usually having few and outdated equipment, a bigger percentage of uncertified trainers and high rates of turnover by teachers and high class sizes. To add to that, the schools that admit larger numbers of trainees from low socio-economic status backgrounds will most likely focus their training on basic skills, like basic numeracy and are almost most likely to concentrate on less instructional time on research such as sciences.

In the recent past, students with exceptionalities have seen a much greater integration into the regular schools as well as the opportunity to study alongside able-bodied students in their classrooms. In the past, these students were taught separately and even those exceptional students with moderate disabilities had these students study in separate classrooms. The separation of exceptional students led to a restrictive environment due to limited interaction with the general population especially those of the peers with whom they ought to be competing then. Even then, modifying the teacher’s instruction, curriculum, and assessment has not been without its difficulties. Not applying these modification would mean that disabled students would still find it difficult during the assessment of important aspects of their education.
