RIM has grown from scratch to be the best and leading designer, producer, and seller of wireless solutions in the whole world in communications. Founded in 1984 by Mike Lazardis RIM began in the field of information technology and no one knew it would grow to be a huge success. In 1988 it began dealing in wireless data-only appliances which was its major investment (Shafer, 2002).
In 1996 the company developed a PCMIA plug-in card that made it possible for computers to access wireless email. This innovation and others is the reason product development in the company has been seen as efficient and effective. The major product that hit the markets by storm in 1999 was the BlackBerry personal digital assistant (PDA) (Shafer, 2002). Technology with this gadget had become developed to levels that no other competitor would imagine. The company has also developed radio modems to OEM original equipment manufacturers with other developments in software for applications in the BlackBerry....
