Assignment Description:
• This case study requires that you use the knowledge gained throughout the course to analyze a patient scenario. The analysis of the case must consider beliefs, values, ethics, confidentiality, access and quality of care components related to the care of this patient in the context of the United State health delivery system.
• You are to consider the impacts of social interaction between the patient and her relatives, health care professionals, various institutions and governmental agencies. You are required to address the interconnections between individuals, groups and institutions/agencies.
• Your case analysis must demonstrate an understanding of health policy, health care delivery methods, services and financing in the United States as it applies to the case scenario.
• The case study involves a geriatric patient and her health care.
Assignment Instructions:
• Case study must be word processed. 12 font size. Double-spaced. Maximum 1” margins. No handwritten assignments will be accepted.
• Minimum analysis content will include the following sections:

Case Analysis Assignment Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the material covered in COHP 101 and apply to a case scenario by;
a. Defining and describing the interconnection between individuals, groups and institutions/agencies.
b. Describing how the health policies, health care delivery methods, applicable services and financing of those services relate to the case study scenario.
c. Describe proposed solutions to address the issues found in the case study.
Case Scenario:
The patient is a 72-year-old widowed Native American woman named Rose Flowers. Mrs. Flowers lives on a Michigan Indian Reservation. Her son, daughter-in-law, daughter and their children all live outside of Michigan.
Her income is $15,000 per year and her healthcare coverage is traditional Medicare. She does not have access to a car. Mrs. Flowers is diabetic and routinely receives care at the Reservation health clinic. For hospital care she must travel off the Reservation.
On January 15, 2020, she slipped on an icy sidewalk and broke her left hip. A surgical repair was necessary and was performed at Munson Medical Center for surgery and a 7-day inpatient day. After Mrs. Flowers’ inpatient stay, she was discharged to Munson Health and Rehabilitation for short-term rehabilitation stay of 14 days. Upon discharge from Munson, in home physical and occupational therapy was scheduled for a period of 2 months. Discharge plan for Mrs. Flowers anticipates that she will be able to be discharged from home care by June 1, 2020. After that date, Mrs. Flowers should be able to live independently and care for herself at home.

The patient is a 71-year-old Native American woman named Rose Flowers. She lives alone in a Michigan Indian Reservation since her family lives outside of the State. She is covered by traditional Medicare insurance and is receiving around $15,000 annually. She does not have any private transportation and a diagnosed diabetic, for which she receives routine care at the Reservation's health clinic.
On January 15, 2020, Mrs. Flowers slipped on an icy sidewalk and broke her left hip. Since she required surgical treatment to fix her hip, she was brought to Munson Medical Center and was confined for seven days. She was also given a short-term rehabilitation of 14 days for further treatment. Following these treatments, the patient was then scheduled for a home physical therapy for two months before she can live independently again.
Main Issues or Concerns
Some of the main issues and concerns that a healthcare provider must be able to address in this case are (1) costs of treatments and (2) assurance of holistic health.
Analysis of Concerns
The particular issue identified in this case is related to the aim of nursing, which is to provide a holistic kind of treatment that considers the patient's well-being CITATION Nil19 \l 1033 (Nilsen, Söderhamn, & Dale, 2019).
On the one hand, the reason why the 'costs of treatments' are a concern is because of Mrs. Flowers' is because of her financial status. It was stated that she was living alone, dependent on the traditional mediocre insurance, and is receiving around $15,000 annually. She still has to pay for her other expenses such as food, travel (i.e., travel to the hospital), electricity bills, and regular medications, among others. Thus, the healthcare provider must ensure that the treatment must be cost-effective and affordable for as much as possible.
