Read the case study, Improving Responses to Medical Errors with Organizational Behavior Management, in Chapter 4 of your course text. In a three-to five-page double-spaced paper (excluding title and reference pages) address the following:
Explain why the increase in the manager’s use of group behavior-based feedback is important.
Propose intervention strategies the group leader can use to enhance the group effectiveness. Justify your proposed strategies with scholarly and/or peer-reviewed sources.
Explain the motivational theory applicable to sustain the four results listed in the case study.

Introduction
Harnessing group dynamics power can bring change to an organization. A good multi-disciplinary group with good leadership is able to achieve better results than individuals. Some aspects of group dynamics such as the psychology of groups can greatly increase its efficacy if they are applied appropriately. For example, publicly acknowledging and recognizing positive action and decisions done by a group member to the whole group can help improve the motivation and productivity of the individual more than if the efforts and or actions were recognized privately. The collective responsibility of the group and increased communication amongst group members also helps the members to form a better professional relationship and aids in creating a more conducive working environment. Thus, in the case of the case study found in the textbook, the management strategy to improve patient safety helps exemplify the efficacy of organizational behavior management.
Reasons why an increase in the manager’s use of group behavior-based feedback is important
Group behavior-based feedback increased because the issues addressed were pertinent to all the team. It was a new intervention strategy which was being tried, and the teams hadn’t done this before. Thus, most of the instances that warranted feedback were not individual specific, but it was better to address the whole group.
The group members also shared information amongst themselves. There was peer learning in the group since the feedback is shared in the group reached each person, and it could help them to avoid repeating a mistake or help determine the preferred and or the best way to address a specific issue. A group is in itself a learning environment because the experiences of each member are varied and if shared, they significantly improve the efficacy of the whole group.
Thirdly, positive feedback shared in the group in a way that recognizes best efforts and exemplary decisions and actions build a healthy competitive culture within the group. The group level recognition which the manager might give for an event and or action of the team is a form of reward that inculcates good actions and decision-making culture and motivates the group. At the group and individual level, the individual feels that the manager recognizes their efforts and that could prompt them to do better.
