The results of the study included that the nuts that had failed had passed some tests and after the tests it was established that they were fit. Another finding was that the procurement test requirements were not adequate to establish the nuts that could function effectively in service without failing unexpectedly. It was also discovered that the shaking on one of the failed nuts could also have contributed to the convolution of the situation (Andrew et al., 2017). Moreover, it was discovered that there was the presence of metallurgical anomalies with the fractured and tested nuts. In addition, it was found that the novel experimental approach rendered data to establish the effect of the manufacturing process on the nut performance. The approach also demonstrated that a characterization of the microstructure alone could not be able to render evidence of the correspondence nut performance. Finally, it was discovered that capability and uprightness for all 220 ksi Inconel 718 nut producers and sizes used on the A-10 aircraft were not at the desired level.
