After relying on expansion of brick and mortar outlets, Carol B. Tomé the Home Depot CFO realized that there was a need to use technology to improve competitiveness (Jones & George, 2013). Home Depot still relied on outdated technology, and the realization that Lowe’s was increasing its market share then it was important to use mobile apps to reach out to customers. The company has primarily relied on brick and mortar outlets, to the extent that the management had neglected the role of online ordering. Since, there was also no established online ordering system, adopting a future oriented approach, which integrated use of Information technology, was essential to increase efficiency.
Why is it so important that Home Depot improve its operating systems?
Home Depot need to improve their operating system in order to remain competitive. The company is still relying on outdated technology as well as old computers, meaning that it is hard to keep up with emerging trends in Information Technology (Jones & George, 2013).
