You are in the second year of the culinary arts program at George Brown College and you will be graduating shortly. You and your sister have inherited a small amount of money from an aunt who recently passed away, and you are looking for ways to put your inhaeritance to good use. You sister is graduating from the Hospitality Operations Management program at the same college and together you would like to purchase a restaurant franchise called Brown Street Baking Co. There are already two successful franchises in Toronto; one is in Liberty Village, the other is at Yonge and Eglinton. You and your sister would like to obtain information on opening another franchise in Leslieville, close to where the two of you are living. Some of the information you would like to gather includes the total investment required to start the franchise, whether a portion of the investment can be financed, and whether you can rent your own equipment. You would also like to know whether Leslieville is a feasible location, whether training is available, and, since this is your first venture operating a small business, the nature of support provided to franchises. You would appreciate any other information that Brown Street Baking Co. can offer, since you are contemplating other investment options.
