Describe the industry in which Organigram is operating.
Within the Canadian industrial setup, the company specifically operates within the cannabis industry. The issue of the legalization of medical marijuana in Canada has often faced several hurdles and ambiguity.
What factors contribute to the ambiguity faced by Organigram?
Several issues have contributed towards this ambiguity on the side of the company. First, there is the grey area concerning just how much permission one would have and the amount of cannabis that he or she would be allowed to grow, as well as the amount the consumers would be allowed to purchase. Second is the formulation of rules and policies that would ensure the safety of consumers. Third, there is also the confusion on the length of time it will take the government institutions to come up with these laws governing the production and consumption of recreational cannabis. Fourth, there is also some ambiguity concerning the amount that drivers can consume and still be in a good state to drive. Finally, there is also the issue of which companies to ward licenses so that they can begin immediate production for the sake of those consumers who are I immediate need of the cannabis (Government of Canada, 2016).

This will include opening up of new branches in these emerging markets while also engaging much in additional research to remain afloat against the competition. Investing in further research can also help them continue producing the required quality of products and avoid the severe punishments meted upon some of its competitors that had broken the Canadian quality laws in their production (Owram, 2019). The research will also help in improved automation and packaging.
What evaluation criteria should Organigram use when assessing growth options while keeping in mind the recommendations from the Task Force?
When it comes to the best evaluation criterion for growth, the company needs to simply look at the potential markets. This will help ascertain the market size. Assessing the market is essential in ensuring that the company can conceptualize the market basics such as the size, demographics and dynamics of the same (Marquit, 2018). Much of the global market is still classified as illegal and hence the business is of the black market in nature. It is only after the legalization by most of the countries that these markets would be open for legal business. How long that will take, however, is up in the ...
