War is a common aspect of human history. I think that war has been vital in achieving modernity since differing parties will disagree until they find common ground to unite and work towards the same vision. Some of the most outstanding leaders in history, such as Ramesses II were renowned for their victories in wars. He was the ruler and pharaoh of Egypt for 67 years, and his reign resulted in many economic, political, and social advancements for the country. The article by Mark (2012) that Ramesses II will also be remembered as the first ruler who signed a peace treaty, which is known as the Treaty of Mesilim. The document was signed between the cities of Lagash and Umma which existed in ancient Mesopotamia in 2550 BCE. Indeed, this was a great accomplishment at a time when most sates were focused on expansion and war.
